playing cd's

I have 2009 and i can watch dvd's and play mp3's but i can not get cd's to play or to rip. Kaffeine just stays black for everything but i can use totum for movies any help would be great Bower

Have you tried Amarok, KSCD.?

Give Amarok a minute when you play a cd it downloads the Album/track names from the net.

I have figured out that my machine only sees some dvd's. it hardly ever shows a cd in the drive nor will it play it. i did get k3b to rip in wave format only. dolphin never shows a cd is mounted either.

I know it sounds odd but my DVD drive wont., They seem to get to a certain age then give up I think.
Had three of them do it. over the years, all writers funnily enough :confused:

I had to put a new one in because of this.
