Pretty simple issue (I think..)
What up Linux people... After 11 years of using different versions of Windows, I finally switched over to Linux Mandrake yesterday (after about a month of deliberation). Ah Yeah...
Anyway, my root password isn't being recognized.
I created one user account and started setting up the OS (date & time, network settings, and the million other things that need to be configured after a fresh installation) from this account. Whenever I try, I'm prompted for the root password (which I created during the installation), but when I enter it, I'm told it's incorrect. I don't understand what's going on... I know I didn't make any mistakes when I created and typed the password the first time (but I tried a whole bunch of likely keystroke errors I might have made, though I'd be surprised if I made the mistake TWICE in a row, since you're prompted to reenter the password when you first create it).
It seems to me that Mandrake has mangled my root password, or changed it to something else, and now I can't setup my system. Is there anything I can do besides reinstalling the OS?
