Can't start "configure your computer" from start menu also can't start "browse available software" ? Using Linux operating system and Mandrake 10.1 (community version). any help would be appreciated.

You could try an "upgrade" install over your existing install, but that's a bit touchy; since MCC is futzed anyway, though, it may be worth a shot. I agree that an official release would be a good way to go.
