I no longer have access to the root or control manager because my root password has expired.
Is there anyway I can sort this out and change my setup to single user so I dont have to worry about access?

To recover root's password you will have to boot into single user mode, try booting from your distro cd install, sometimes the option is there.
You only have to use the root user for system administration tasks.. for all the rest just use a normal user. If you don't have one, just create it.
can I set single user mode perminantly there?
ok, I've been through the installer and there is nothing there to reset the root password, the only thing I could do was change the security level, which didn't help.
Is there no way in mandriva to just have a single user PC?
Hmm... single user pc? You mean "don't use passwords"?
would be nice
I can't even update mandriva online wthout the password.
Read what I postead earlier.Quote:

I don't know if there's any. Why are you using Linux? I think that Windows would fit better for you.Quote:
