hallo everybody,
first the basics:
sony vario with amd 1100 mobile, 256 ram, 20 gb hd, realtec nic-0 (works fine), firewire nic-2 (disabled), mandrake 10.1 cv incl. kernel src. and all updates, adls connection.
i intend:
installing a smb 2835w wireless network adaptor.
what i did:
made up a second profile "wireless"
disabled nic-0. installed new connection: wireless with smb card. fixed ip adress.
rebooted.
came up with error message:"siocsifflags no such file or directory"
went through forums
downloaded the 1.0.4.3.arm firmware. created dir /lib/hotplug/firmware/isl3890. cp firmware into dir. renamed it to isl3890.arm. cp file also to dir /lib/hotplug/firmware.
rebooted.
came up with same error message
tryed everything i found:stopping apic, etc.:(caused wonderfull hangups) installed everything new includig updates. read all var messages:no hint but "no such file or dir"
after two days i need some more help

You kinda missed the directions:
1)Download either the .arm file or isl3890 file
2)rename the .arm file to isl3890 if you got the arm
3)copy the isl3890 to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware
4)

eth-1 is up now.
are there any howtos for filling out the network form for wireless adaptors?
