troubles installing 10.1
i type linux to install and...
- loading alt0........
- loading alt0/all.rdz..........................
- ready.
then it goes to a blank screen and then the system restarts, same thing happens when i try to run solaris or knoppix.
i thought it might be graphics, so i tried all the different resolution modes, even text mode doesnt work.
i also tried using kernel 2.4 and it yielded the same results.
thank you verrrry much

Hello ... almost certainly a hardware issue given that 3 different distros have complained about your settings. :)
It's unusual for Knoppix to fail though, as hardware support in Knoppix is very good.
The problem is going to be deciding what your hardware problem is. My guess would also be your graphic's card. I did a quick Google and found that someone on another forum couldn't load X using your card (also your problem). Of course, then you get someone who says, 'It works for me'... They were using Redhat, so maybe trying Fedora would help?
You tried different resolutions and another kernel, which I thought was a good idea. Your memory/chip are ok ... My money's on the card.
