Uninstall LILO
I had Mandriva installed on a separate disk from XP and replaced the mandriva with ubuntu. I need to reformat the disk for a clean install. The Lilo boot manager is staying in the system and windows cannot find the disk to format because of this. I cannot find Lilo in the windows system to remove . Can anyone help? Thank you.

You can restore the MBR by booting with the windows xp cd and in the recovery console type fixmbr.

The SuperGrub LiveCD is also a handy tool to have around that will remove LILO:
