what is with k3b
since i upgraded to 2009 i cant rip cd's to mp3s what am i doing wrong.
my special needs child has an mp3 player that wont play ogg. :dazed: is this what is coming of linux or am i doing something wrong. let me know please. thanks
ps how would a guy go back to 2008.1 spring
I can't answer the K3b issue, but you can install 2008.1 right over your current partitions if you want to get back to where you were.

Check out Settings > Configure K3b > Programs. Make sure that you are not missing any of the plugins such as transcode. These apps don't usually ship with most distros but I can't speak for Mandriva. They are usually easy enough to install and K3b will pick them up on a restart if you install them.

I'm pretty sure you should be able to use urpmi to install transcode:

Looks like you need to install lame (obvious name for an mp3 encoder!).
It can be installed via urpmi or the GUI but I think you'll need the PLF repos configured (see easyurpmi).
