Writing files to windows partition and network computer.

Alright, I'm having a bit of trouble getting Mandrake 10 to write files to my windows partition and a network computer that I use primarily for backup. I can access them and read the files fine, it just simply won't allow me to copy my files over.

Windows partition is an NTFS partition running Win2k, and the network computer uses XP on an NTFS partition. Was wondering if maybe it was an NTFS thing, but I don't really have any way to check otherwise.

If there is any way to write files to my other partition/computer, I'd be absolutely thrilled to find out about it.

Googling the problem got me nowhere :roll:.

afaik ntfs write support is still exprerimental on the newer kernels.
never tried it myself.

My suggestion -

Create a partition as a FAT filesystem.

For your network, is the network PC on Windows? If so, you'll need to configure/install SAMBA in order to write to it via a network.

What I'm really wanting to do is just get rid of windows all together and run solely off linux, so I guess the NTFS solution isn't what I was looking for if I could set samba up to allow me to write files to my other box running XP.

Now I've just got to figure out what I need to do to get samba to work ;).
