I was trying to install MEPIS 6.5.02 on my IBM T23 laptop with 256mB RAM.

The LiveCd seemed to run without any problems; it even automatically found my 3com wireless card that plugged into the slot and got the internet from there.

I prepared a partition for it and started the install.

For some reason, it seems to lock up right at the 92% point. The ABort or anything else does not function at all.

My guess would be, maybe the CD is corrupted. Did you verify the ISO after you downloaded it?

F3 ....setup low rez to start with like 800x600
Select the very bottom install for super limited machines
Add to the boot line "failsafe" without the quotation marks and hit enter
let us know

Okay, I did the following:

1. selected 800X600 via the F3 key
2. Selected the "MINIMUM" install
3. made sure to add "failsafe" at end of the boot line

Result: Stopped at 92%; I made sure to wait several minutes.

Try #2:
Selected the SMALL and added "failsafe" at end of boot line.

Also stopped at 92%.

Did you try my suggestion? Either verify the downloaded ISO's or use the built-in disk checker. Are you sure you have enough free space?

I checked the MEPIS site looking for this:
# MD5 checksum generated by IsoBuster 2.2.0.1 (CD / DVD Data Recovery & Rescue software, featuring BD and HD DVD)

I also did the md5sum /dev/cdrom with the T23. This gave me:
md5sum: /dev/cdrom: Input/output error

I did it a second time and got nothing.
