Screensaver not working

It works only sometimes but usually not. No matter what I put the settings at it doesn't come on....just sits and sits on the desktop.

Any suggestions? KDE 3.5.3

Okay, I knew there was a bug but now I'm reading that it's more recommended to upgrade to 3.5.4 or 3.5.5.

Any info on how I can find this upgrade and if I can install it without losing all my settings?

I'm not sure if there are any older versions of KDE packages still available for Mepis, but another option might be to install xscreensaver to take the place of the broken one in your current version of KDE.
