Manage Startup Process

Hello Everyone

I have ben using MEPIS for about 8 months now and was wondering if there
(and I am sure there must be) is a similar application as MS CONFIG or STARTUP that I can manage to choose what programs are running to improve my slugish startup.

Thanks for not beating me up too much

Welcome to the forums!

Check this wiki page for starting/stopping services at system boot:

Configuring what services start at boot time - MEPIS Documentation Wiki

If you want to certain desktop apps to start at system boot, take a look at the sessions option for your desktop environment.

A bit late of a reply, but here goes:
Check out the contents of /etc/rcX.d folder.

Also you can put executable stuff and links in the
/home/User/.kde/Autostart/
and
/usr/share/autostart/
folders and those things will be started when booting into RL5.
