Mepis Network Card

I am running Mepis on an old laptop. When I bought the laptop, it came with a modem card and an ethernet card. But I lost what I understand is called a "dongle" the wire that connects the ethernet card to a network cable.

So I ventured down to Fry's Electronics and I was convinced to go ahead and just by a brand new Ethernet card. I bought a D-Link DFE-690T. It did not work. And it came with an installation CD and an instruction manual that stated that the requirements are to be run on either a Mac or a Windows OS.

What do I do?

Other options

I work on probably a hundred linux laptops on and off

While I don't recognize anything dlink (sneer)

I have absolutely no problems with
3com or realtek

First of all I had the same exact problem and bought a dongle on ebay for $10
Second I always try to find others successfully doing what I want to do
and look at what equipment they are doing it with ....

Vote with you money ...take the dlink back and try another brand till you get
satisfaction......

I have ordered a connection wire to go with the card I originally had. Maybe that will work.

Well the dongle I ordered online never came. And I am still looking for the online link to their store.

So back to square one.
