Help with modem drivers
Hi All - I am installing Mint 10 for a friend, and he needs modem to work (total boonies with dialup!)
Found this in lspci:
got this from wvdial:Code:03:03.0 Communication controller: Conexant Systems, Inc. HSF 56k Data/Fax Modem
I am pretty comfortable with doing almost anything Linux with a little guidanceCode:bill@bill-pei ~ $ wvdial --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60 --> Cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory --> Cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory --> Cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory

I don't use dial up but here's the Ubuntu guide. Would be the same for Mint.

Still working on this - not full time

Have found a driver - am working on install. Will try to post the whole thing here when complete. I am as surprised as anyone that there are still areas with dial-up only. Thought sure we were the last!
On the other hand ... Prince Edward Island is pretty far out there!
On the other hand ... All the more reason that you NEED high speed broadband!

The way I solved my internal modem was to find a old USB dial up modem.
