    Help with modem drivers

Hi All - I am installing Mint 10 for a friend, and he needs modem to work (total boonies with dialup!)

    Found this in lspci:

    Code:
03:03.0 Communication controller: Conexant Systems, Inc. HSF 56k Data/Fax Modem
    got this from wvdial:

    Code:
    bill@bill-pei ~ $ wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory
--> Cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory
--> Cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory
I am pretty comfortable with doing almost anything Linux with a little guidance

    Thanks

finally - hw to brag about - but next year it will look pitifully quaint:
    Athlon64 X2 3800 - 1G PC3200 - 250G SATA - ati radeon x300

I don't use dial up but here's the Ubuntu guide. Would be the same for Mint.

Still working on this - not full time

Have found a driver - am working on install. Will try to post the whole thing here when complete. I am as surprised as anyone that there are still areas with dial-up only. Thought sure we were the last!

On the other hand ... Prince Edward Island is pretty far out there!

On the other hand ... All the more reason that you NEED high speed broadband!

later and thanks for the neurons burned out over this...

The way I solved my internal modem was to find a old USB dial up modem.
