After grub runs when booting, is there no longer a way to view system messages in Linux Mint 11? I have tried the old F keys way to no avail. What am I missing?

Escape?
Not sure if it is there in Mint, but in Fedora/RH, you can remove the quiet rhgb parts of the kernel command line arguments (either manually at boot time, or modify /etc/grub.conf), to make the kernel and system messages print to screen.
