wireless not working (it's not disabled either)

Hi I recently installed mint 12 on a dell inspiron 1520 and I can't get it to work wirelessly.
The wireless isn't turned off I typed

rfkill list
0: dell-wifi: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no

I installed puppy before and that worked fine straight away but in the top right internet tab it's just got wired and no wireless networks.

The card is a broadcom bcm94311mcg

I'm a newbie to linux so try not to be too complicated

Take a look at this page.
Follow the instructions there for running a script that will give a lot of good information on your system.
Post the results back here, and someone should be able to get you going.

ah well my plan was to dual boot windows I got a little impatient and tried to install windows. Then it didn't like linux being on first so I wiped it and installed opensuse (I thought it might work straight away) and its doing the same. Sorry if I've wasted any of your time jay!
Will that script work for opensuse too?
