Mint 12 problem with Logitech webcam

    LinuxMint 12
    Kernel Linux 3.0.0-12-generic
    Gnome 3.2.1

    Logitech QuickCam® Communicate V-UM14A

    PROBLEM:
Camera works fine with VLC and Cheese. But it will NOT work in a browser.
I use Opera 12.12 and Adobe Flash says it doesn't see this camera.
Have tried in Firefox with same results.

Any clues, tips or ideas here? Previously used Fedora 16 and webcam worked fine.

Is the OS 32-bit or 64-bit? If 64-bit, are the browsers 32-bit or 64-bit? In such a case where the OS is 64-bit and the browser is 32-bit, you will need to install the 32-bit drivers and webcam plugins.

Thanks for the reply Rubberman! As far as I know the browser and OS are both 32 bit. Not real sure how to triple check this on either but the one driver I did try was 32 bit.

I find this problem strange since it seems to see the webcam in the lsusb output, and it works fine with Cheese and also works fine with VLC media player, just not in a browser.

Anything else anyone can think of would be great!!!
