Icon of MP3 player won't display

I'm using Mint 14 with the XFCE environment.

When I plug in my MP3 player in some other distro's such as Ubuntu or Mint (Mate)
a cute little MP3 player icon appears on the desktop. I'm running the Xfce environment and all I get is a generic "2GB Volume" icon. Why?

The player has a cpuple of hidden files, "autorun" and "walkman.ico" which control the icon. So what exactly in XFCE controls the icon thats displayed? Not a big problem but I'd like to fix it if possible. Any ideas?

    Thanks
