    Cinnamon Not showing up

hello I just recently installed gnome and now when I go to switch back to cinnamon at the login screen I choose cinnamon and nothing comes up but a mouse and black background.

    have you tried reinstalling cinammon?

also, you can try rebooting into text-mode, then running "startx" with a customized startup-script, one that explicitly calls cinnamon. in the following file:

    put this code:

    exec cinnamon
    make sure it is executable.

then run "startx", it should execute this file. if it doesn't work (or does, but half-assed), check this user-specific log file for any errors:

though it may not exist. you can also check the X log file, somewhere like:
you can also check /var/log/messages (or wherever Mint puts the syslog).
