    hi,

    have you tried reinstalling cinammon?

    also, you can try rebooting into text-mode, then running "startx" with a customized startup-script, one that explicitly calls cinnamon. in the following file:

    Code:
    ~/.xinitrc
    put this code:

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    exec cinnamon
    make sure it is executable.

    then run "startx", it should execute this file. if it doesn't work (or does, but half-assed), check this user-specific log file for any errors:

    Code:
    ~/.xsession-errors
    though it may not exist. you can also check the X log file, somewhere like:
    Code:
    /var/log/Xorg.0.log
    you can also check /var/log/messages (or wherever Mint puts the syslog).
