    I believe fan speed control is disabled by default, and only some PCs even allow control. I've always thought that automatic control by the thermal sensor is best.

    But, if you google 'fan speed linux' there is a number of pages of advice for you. Most seem to involve passing parameters to your acpi module at load time, then tweaking a file in /proc. But, as usual, this is completely up to the various hardware in your PC whether they respond or not.

    Ok thanks I'll search for that. What I only wanted to do is to limit the exhaust fan PWM as it gets really loud and annoying. That's with the auto setting in the bios
