    No Headphone sound

    I have a dual booted Dell 1745 Studio laptop (Win 7 & Linux Mint 17.2).
    When in Windows I can inset a headphone jack into the headphone socket and hear sound. In Linux, insertion mutes the internal speakers and in Preferences/Sound "Speakers" turns to "Headphones" but there is no sound from the phones. I have not been able to find a way of re-configuring to solve this problem.

    Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

    You could try, in a terminal:
    Code:
    amixer -c0 set Headphone unmute 100%

    -->
    Copying and executing the code in a terminal has had no effect. The following is a copy of the terminal output:

    e@e-Studio-1745 ~ $ amixer -c0 set Headphone unmute 100%
    Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0
    Capabilities: pvolume pswitch
    Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
    Limits: Playback 0 - 127
    Mono:
    Front Left: Playback 127 [100%] [0.00dB] [on]
    Front Right: Playback 127 [100%] [0.00dB] [on]
    e@e-Studio-1745 ~ $
