    Does linux mint support hard drives with NTFS file systems?

    Yes.
    I have ntfs-3g on my Linux Mint system right from the day I installed Mint.

    NO.
    not downloading. that is windows mentality.

    you install it through your linux mint packet management (i believe there's a mint software center, or you can use synaptic).

    Well, over 20 years using Microsoft Windows, it's hard to think any other way. The more I play around with linux the more I like it. I wish I new about linux way back then.

    budman7, I have 4 of my drives now ext4 only my 2 TB is still NTFS. Thanks for the help.

    i think i misinterpreted op's last post.

    if you haven't installed linux yet, then of course you have to download the .iso you want to use.

    my comment refered to software installation once linux is installed and running.
