    Start a new thread to uninstall wine. I've got no experience of uninstalling stuff . I'm guessing something like
    sudo apt-get remove wine
    maybe what you need.

    I can be found either 40 miles west of Chicago, in Chicago, or in a galaxy far, far away.
    You need to run Synaptic as root. IE: su - root (password). Then you can run synaptic properly in your terminal. I do this all of the time.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
