Dual Boot Windows 8 and Linux
I recently became frustrated with Windows 8 and wanted to try out linux. I made a USB boot stick with Linux Mint (Petra) and it loads up fine off the USB stick but when I click the install button the installer crashes when I try to choose a partition.
I had partitioned 400 gb of space but none of my partitions would show up on the install window. I guess I could take a screenshot of the error message (not sure how to do that in Linux but I could poke around).
I read a bit more and I learned that there is a new "bios" called UEFI for computers but I'm not sure what to do to make linux play nice with this UEFI.
I want to slowly move over to Linux while I learn about it and find programs on Linux that do what I had previously done on Windows. So I don't want to completely erase windows just yet.
I think my major problem is figuring out this UEFI thing. Is there a guide somewhere on the web? I could be looking to much into this but do I have to build my own BIOS?
