Bought a new laptop today... A Lenovo Z460 4GB Ram 500GB hard drive i-5 Core processor...
Came with Windows 7 so I am in the process of downloading Linux Mint so as to be able to install it and start having fun... The live CD refuses to boot and I donīt know why... I shall be googling what to do....
That's not much information for anyone to work with and try to help you. Can you reveal what happens when you try to boot the live CD, such as error messages, blank screen, etc? What exactly does happen when you try to boot it?

Going on the info I have I suggest you might want to check the bootorder.
You could also try and verify the md5sum of the CD/DVD image.
Yep, that's all I have with this info.
I am downloading again to try one more time
I am embarrased to say that I have been using Windows 7 for the past week at my box at my place
I have learned so much that now I can install a free antivirus, defragment my hard drive, remove all adaware software, clean my registry, defragment my registry, install programs without caring about security, etc. Oh! I have done so much for the past week that I have also installed software that came from Linux like Libreoffice, inkscape, gimp, etc.
Why did I forget about the joys of using Windows?
Just kidding, as soon as I am done I will install Linux Mint...
Now, the problem that I detected was that I am with a 64bit architecture...
And 64-bits is an issue because?
The platform is supported quite well these days.
