Mint 9 won't see dvd or cd blanks??

Hey guys...All of a sudden I cannot put in a blank dvd or cd and have Mint 9see the drive. When I put in a music cd or some other cd or dvd I burned it sees it just fine. I'm running an amd 64 bit with 4 gb of ram and have been using Mint 9 for about 6 month now without any problems at all including the dvd/cd recorder. I havn't changed anything in the computer so I'm not sure whats going on. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried it using multiple blank c.d.'s?

Hi PrinceSharma, thanks for your reply and yes, I have 3 different brands of both cd's and 2 kinds of dvd's and none of them seem to want to be seen by Mint
