Removed Libre office and cannot reinstall it. LMDE
I removed LibreOffice from my system with the "remove completely" option in synaptic. It not only removed it completely from the computer but also from the synaptic list. I have tried apt-get update to get it bact to no avail. I downloaded it from the libre office site and unzipped it but do not know what to do next. I have tried several instructions I found on the internet but none have worked for me.
I have /home/x/Desktop/LibO_3.5.1rc2_Linux_x86-64_install-rpm_en-US
on my Desktop but do not know how to install it or add it to the synaptic package.

I tried the search for the package name. It gave a long list of everything begining with libre but nothing I thought was the package name. I tried adding the repository "sudo apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa"
I got the following, indicating an error, which I have got before but don't know what to do about it. This is copied from the terminal screen.
" localhost x # add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa

The " are mine, added to clarify. Why and what is the attribute Config. Also what is the "ppa" part?
