well the screen shot explains it ive tried changing the profile settings and i still cant see the window

you sure you set the terminal profile correctly?
Uh, I'd probably just uninstall the sucker and reinstall it.
It might have to do with a theme/color system-wide change you might have recently made, if you did?

Until you can get it sorted, a work around would be to right click on your desktop, choose "create launcher," call it "Xterm" and type in:

xterm

...as the command. Press okay. Click on the newly created Xterm icon on your desktop and see if it gives you a terminal where you can see the type.

Delete ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal folder and log out. Login back and launch Terminal again. It should work fine.
.gconf is a hidden folder. Select Show Hidden Files in Nautilus to make it visible.

Press Alt+F2, type xterm and execute this

rm -r ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal

Mint may be different, but looking in my .gconf/apps/ directory in Hardy, I'm not seeing a file or folder for gnome-terminal. Is it created when and if gnome-terminal is customised?

Yes. Its created when one customise gnome-terminal.
There are a few other locations like .gconfd and .gnome2 where one can look for conf files.

Last resource is, delete all conf folders.

ok i deleted the terminal directory i got the xterm launcher and that works but the problem remains

Try going into a tty away from the GUI. ctrl+alt+somethingofyourchoosingmaybef3
Does the problem remain?

another thing to do is try gconf-editor.
hack the keys and their colors.

ok the problem was that compiz has a bug i had it set to full effects and now i put the effects to low and i can see it
