About Java Runtime Environment plugin

Hi folks,


Ubuntu server 7.04 amd64
Firefox


I need "Java Runtime Environment plugin' visiting some websites. I have the self-extract package jre-6u6-linux-x64.bin download and installed on

/usr/java/jre1.6.0_06/bin/


Please advise how to make it to work. TIA


Edit --> Preference --> Content --> Enable Java
already check

Make sure java lib path is correct.
You may need to change thae path....

I install 64bit jre-6u6-linux-x64.bin


$ locate libjavaplugin_oji.so

No printout


I suspect whether this is a plugin.

No, sun does produce a 64 bit version but it's not very reliable. Issues like this one are very common - that's why I always advise people to install the 32 bit version of Ubuntu rather than the 64 bit. There are some other issues too, Flash for example.

Hi folks,


Thanks for your advice.


This is a 64 bit server box. I run web browser only occassionally. I have solved the problem of flash and vedio player plugins on this 64bit box leaving behind java plugin unsolved. They are working w/o problem. I trust 64bit java plugin can be solved. I read some document on online. But testing the solution on server is not preferred. I'll continue watching the development on 64bit java plugin. Thanks
