balki Just Joined! Join Date: Sep 2009 Posts: 4	How to install windows over network using a linux computer I have a notebook pc which doesnt have an optical drive but has support for network boot. I want to reinstall windows xp there. I have a ubuntu 8.10 computer. Can i use this to install windows xp/vista/7 over network to another computer? Is it possible and how do i go about it?

coopstah13 Linux Guru Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: NH, USA Posts: 1,756	You could set up pxe boot server (tftp-server). It would be easier to boot with a flash drive if you have one though.

coopstah13 Linux Guru Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: NH, USA Posts: 1,756	you should be able to use unetbootin to create it from the windows iso, which you should be able to extract from the cd, on linux it is simple just use dd command, but I'm not sure on windows, there should be an application that can do it.
