Microsoft to blame for overlapping my HD partitions!

Microsoft to blame for overlapping my HD partitions!

I got a problem and it's all Microsoft fault!

Here was my partition table:

C: FAT32 5GB
D: EXT3/linux 5GB (+ 512MB swap)
E: NTFS 50GB
F: NTFS 50GB

I wanted more space so I used Windows XP Disk Management tool to delete D: EXT3/linux parition and also my swap partition. Then I used the same tool to create a NTFS partition and 2 weird things happened:

a) my HD capacity doubled from 120GB to 210GB... :S
b) the new D: partition created sized at 55GB (when it should've been 5GB max.)

Results?

Well, I wasn't fully awake at the time and started using my new 55GB partition; moving around files/MP3s, etc. I started noticing my E: files (.jpgs, .exes, .zips, .rars) gradually being corrupted. It wasn't now that I realised that stupid WindowsXP has overlapped my D: with E: !!! so E: files were being overwritten... MP3s getting garbled, JPGs being incomplete, etc. What a mess!

I hate Microsoft. Why can't they for once start being compatible with linux?!

that would be to agree that Linux has the right to exist. MS will not do this unless Linux gets a 51% market share

Really Vergil, that little?

Kevin, I'd not completely blame Microsoft until I ran the drive manufacturer's diagnostic. I wouldn't sleep very well either.

This might sound rather strange, but more and more I see microsoft as better for certain applications (often times, that includes servers IMO), while Linux is better for pretty much everything else

wow that is strange, i see on the other side of that spectum, i think linux owns the server world, by the fact that the servers are developed on linux, so they are more efficient, but i belive that windows it overall better at dealing with media and client side applications
