Mado Linux User Join Date: Jun 2003 Posts: 255	Hyper Threading in Linux? I've got a 2.8GHz P4 with Hyper Threading. Is there anyway to actually use this in linux? (For those that don't know what it is, Hyper Threading is new to the 800MHz FSB P4's, it basically pretends to be two processors. The BIOS lists it as two when windows is running and everything. Would it work if I just set up SMP?)

Mado Linux User Join Date: Jun 2003 Posts: 255	well, sorta. THe BIOS itself recognizes it as one processor, but it tells the OSes that it's two. There's actually an option in the BIOS to turn HT on or off.

Giro Linux Engineer Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: England Posts: 1,219	You will more then likely need to recompile your kernel for SMP and it will work. Im sure there is a tut on TLDP's website.
