can't update with yum or pup

Hey everyone
yesterdat i installed FC6 on a friend's pc and i have a problem updating with either yum or pup, its something that i hadnt had problems with with my computer, it says that another program is looking for updates and just shuts down.
Oh, i cant add any new software with the pirut app.
I would really appreciate any help, thanks a lot in advance

press Ctrl+Esc, look for process 'updatesd' or something like that and kill it. actually, 'yum updater' runs in background by default and it doesn't allow other instances of package manager.
