switch from mp3 to ogg
I have an older sony 512 meg mp3 wma fm player that is stuck on the sony splash screen.
I would like to switch the firmware so it can play files in ogg.
any ideas?????

Likely that it's not possible because no replacement firmwares or tools to do so exist or are easily available. Do some searching of the google.

id just leave it with mp3s or get something that supports ogg
mp3s arent that bad and its easy to convert music from ogg for mp3 playersMicrosoft isn't evil, they just make really crappy operating systems.

I've heard that some of the older players don't have the processing power required to play ogg vorbis. In terms of alternate firmware the most popular is RockBox but the devices supported are limited.
