I recently decided to build file server for home. I have a few 500gb hard drives that I am using and they are formatted ext3 but I did not specify to not reserve blocks on them since they are purely for storage purposes. I know that you can use tune2fs on an ext3 formatted disk to remove the reserved blocks. My question is, is there any chance of losing data already on the disk when doing this? Does tune2fs simply free up the reserved blocks to the non-super-user?
