What is the diffrence between konsole and console?
hi
as you know when we use Alt+Ctrl+Fn (n=1,...,7) (if we are in GUI) we can switch to another virtual console. on the other hand ,we must type konsole (in GUI) in Run Command... to open new konsole.
I used who command to test more and the output was:
iman@imanhost:~/$ who
iman tty1 Aug 1 17:46 (in console)
root :0 Aug 1 15:38 (in konsole)
now the question is:
What is the difference between konsole and console?
only dictation? I don't think so.
many thanks

konsole is a terminal emulator for kde.
console is just an interface so you can communicate to your linux box.

wow, thats a very helpful reply, reguardless console is the actual interface to the kernel, konsole (along w/ xsever) interprets your commands and sends them (when necissary) to a consol (the one that xserver is running on) were they make things happen.
