Windows virus can only run on linux via emulation. So, unless your distro is configured to automount usb devices, and launch anything from those drives using wine automatically then you are safe.
And I haven't found a distro that can do that without some heavy trickery involving udev, some scripting and wine of course.
Windows virus can do stuff on a linux filesystem if this filesystem is accessible to wine, but they can't run natively on linux without any emulator. And so, they can't do anything unless you load them implicitly or explicitly using wine.

I saw this summed up best as "To get a virus on Linux you really have to work at it; to get a virus on Windows you just have to work on it."
