    Tar Problem

    I have a problem with the tar program.

    After I installed the latest version of it which is the 1.20-2
    I cannot use the tar xvf command, I am prompted that tar program is not yet installed. But it is indicated in the synaptic package manager that it is installed already.

    What is the possible problem, please help.

    Which directory is tar in?
    Is that directory in your PATH?

    Does is work if you specify the path on the command line?

    /path/to/tar xvf file.tar
