Transferring my email settings by simply copying ~/.evolution
Hi. I want to transfer my email and configuration for the Evolution mail client to my new computer. I tried this by copying the ~/.evolution directory to my new computer (in my home directory, after backing up the .evolution directory that was already there). However, when I started Evolution, I got an annoying wizard and was forced to give my email address etc. Now, Evolution does not have the configuration for my various email accounts, although it does have my old emails and contacts.
How do I transfer the old email configurations from my old home directory to my new computer?
Thanks!OS's I use: Debian testing, Debian stable, Ubuntu, OpenSuse 12.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP

There is a tool within Evolution for doing this. Go to File> Backup Settings and you can restore your settings by doing the same through Restore Settings.

Thanks Tom. That tool sounds handy, however I have already dismantled my old computer! Is there any human readable file that has the addresses and protocols etc.? I'll look for it later.
