    Evolution Email

    hi I'm a newbie to linux. I installed Ubuntu 8.04 last week which comes with firefox webbrowser and evolution email program. I am slowly learning how things work but have a long way to go. my question here is re evolution emails. it all works ok except that when I receive an email an icon comes up to let me know I have a new email but I don't have any sound to let me know. I have searched around the evolution website and on this forum but haven't had any success. any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Is it something as simple as your volume being muted? Do you have working sound in other apps?

    hi thank you for your reply. no it isn't anything as simple as that unfortunately. I checked the volume and I get sound when I log on and other audio things work fine.
