linux emulator for windows XP or vista
Hi all would anyone know how i could collect software data from a flash card that requires a linux emulator, applicable to vista or windows XP and that will also not override software on my computer please help

Do you mean virtualization??Do you mean that you want to run a Windows OS or application on your Linux machine?

no i would like to run a linux emulator on my windows vista or even XP only to retrieve data from my flash card that requires a linux emulator hope that makes better sense sorry

If you are looking for a Linux environment you could check out Cygwin.

I assume you are running a Linux script that requires this?

but i think that would whipe out my computer as i dont want to make it s linux computer all i want is the data from my flash card with having to sacrifice my computer

Would a LiveCD such as Knoppix give you what you need? Just a temporary Linux environment to access some info?

It's worth a shot. You'll have a fully functioning Linux desktop and you won't be actually installing anything to your drive. You mentioned needing Linux for something, but not wanting to change your computer's setup. This just seems like a decent idea to me.
