    Background image in Console only


    hi,

    This possibly ranks as my dumbest Linux question and here its goes...can you have a background image(wallpaper) in a console only environment(no X no GUI)? If you can whats needed to set it up...Gerard4143

    Yes, X is not the only video system for GNU/Linux, even though it is the most common.

    Some keywords you might want to search for:
    "linux framebuffer device", "directfb", "svgalib".

    The sad side of the story is that they often don't work alongside with X. You may have to reboot to switch between them.
    Debian GNU/Linux -- You know you want it.
