I see the problem after the OS has booted up. There is nothing showing for both wired or wireless. It's as if it's not recognized. Maybe the modules aren't loaded? ...

I see the problem after the OS has booted up. There is nothing showing for both wired or wireless. It's as if it's not recognized. Maybe the modules aren't loaded? But, since you say there should be no difference, I don't know what could be going on. Could the issue go as far back as the creation of the files on the usb stick? I followed the instructions for installing via unetbootin, though, so I'm at a loss for theories.
I looked at KNetwork Manager or whatever the GUI utility displays your wired and wireless info and nothing is shown at all, it's empty.

Boot up Kubuntu, plug in your ethernet cable and post the output of
Code:ifconfig -a iwconfig lsmod
