Signals to processes on shutdown?
When I shutdown or reboot a box, resident processes get sent SIGTERM, right? If so, if I've spawned a set of processes from an original parent, is it up to me to propagate that TERM signal, or will they all get such a signal independently (I'm guessing they'd get SIGKILL anyway eventually)? If the latter, is there a sequence in which they receive the signal? You see, it is important in my case that the parent is the last to exit and clean up prior to exiting itself. I've tried googling for a guide to the linux shutdown sequence (at the signal level), but drew a blank, so any answers here would be much appreciated.
