Getting USB mobile dongle to work with Kubuntu 9.10
Hi
My friend wanted to give Linux a try and I have today installed Kubuntu 9.10 on her PC.
She has a mobile broadband dongle, a Huawei E0682, which I have been trying to configure so that it can work with Linux.
When the dongle is plugged into the USB socket on the computer, nothing seems to happen and when you go into the Network Connection settings window the "Mobile Broadband" tab is greyed out and therefore I'm not sure how to go about detecting/setting up the dongle to work.
I would be grateful for any advice/instructions on how to get this working.
Many thanks!

Plugin Broadband dongle and execute sudo lsusb command in Terminal. Post output here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Did you Right-Click on the NetworkManager icon and select 'Edit Connections'? There you will find a 'Mobile Broadband' section, where you can set up a new connection.
It is my experience that if there is a working Mobile breoadcom card present, then left-clicking the NetworkManager icon will show a connection, even if you haven't configured it. Please post the info that devils casper requested.Paul
