    ATI or NVIDIA?

So I am planning on buying myself a new laptop, but I don't know what graphics-card I should get: ATI or NVIDIA?

Which one works better with Linux; which one is more supported for example?

There have been a number of threads posted about this in the past, and all of them generally have more users saying that nVidia works better with Linux, at least for now. I've personally been purchasing and using nVidia cards with Linux for the last 9 years and have never regretted it. That said, you might find that you like ATI cards better.

I noticed: I tried the search button, but those topics are old so I thought something might have changed. I'm not speaking off 'personal' meanings, but just about facts: which one is better supported, works better, less problems, etcetera.

No, I don't think much has changed.

Here's a fairly recent post regarding ATI cards:

While some users have problems ATI cards and Linux, plenty of users still swear they are the best.

So I guess I'd still be better off with an nVidia?

I would second ozar's statement. We've both seen quite a few threads on this in recent years and along with our personal experience, Nvidia comes out the clear preferred choice every time.
