    Smile Question from Australia re:etax

    Hi to everyone viewing.
As a reasonably new user (not settled on a distro, yet) I am looking for advice on an Australian specific issue.
Has anyone used Linux to file their etax at end of Financial Year?
If I could do this I will drop Windows in an instant and be full-time Linux..
    Thanks for any/all replies.

    Hello and Welcome.

I'm not too sure about etax software but I do know that you can use online software like turbotax. It works right in your browser.
I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately it has to be 'etax' as it is the program supplied by and linked to the Australian Taxation Office used to lodge our tax returns.

    Hello and welcome!

According to the WINE Apps Database, Etax works under WINE, although not completely:

    WineHQ - ETax 2009

If you really want to run Linux, I'd consider using a dual-boot system for times that you must run Windows.

Best of luck with it either way...

    Thank you

Thanks, Ozar. I may get to try it with some old data and see how far I get.
