3D design software for linux
I was wondering if there is a 3D design software for linux, I use Pro/DESKTOP (http://www.ptc.com/appserver/it/icm/...=y&keyword=355) at the moment in windows.
It lets me design a 3D model, and then make 2D drawings from the model, animations of the model, and to render the model.
It would be great it there was a mainly engineering 3D program like this for linux.
Thanks;

IIRC, blender is a 3D rendering tool for linux and 2D stuff can be handled by the GIMP...
Their code will be beautiful, even if their desks are buried in 3 feet of crap. - esr

- 11-17-2004 #4I've heard of people on pro/DESKTOP forums useing blender, so I can use that, but I don't think the GIMP will be accurate enough since I need more of a CAD program for making designs like this:

not quite what I'm looking for, but it does look interesting, thanks.

Blender is more of an modeling program like Maya, although I'm sure it can be used for CAD stuff. Have you seen the interface to it? Nothing like CAD at all. I've seen fighter-jets with less sophisticaed interfaces, honest to god fighter jets.
