    I don't know which distro you're using, i saw something in mandrake in KDE about how many stars every character should represent, or something like that...

    As i'm a n00b i cant remember the exact location, but i'll try to have a look tonight if i can find the exact location again....

    it was in the KDE Control Center/Security & Privacy/Passwords, but it doesnt affect the shell, it would only affect KDE apps
