so something wrong with partition tableIt would seem that you tried to change the partition table at some point, what program did you use , what did you do ?/dev/sda3 overlaps with /dev/sda4
Does XP boot OK ? Is sda4 only storage or do you have any XP programs installed to it ? Does XP give any errors when you access sda4 (likely drive D
?
That information indicates that sda4 was a logical volume but now it is a primary partition.Boot sector info: According to the info in the boot sector, sda4 starts
at sector 63. But according to the info from fdisk,
sda4 starts at sector 148633443.

sorry for the late response, just got back from new years celebration.
anyway recently I had delete linux root,swap,and home partition using windows diskmanagement and here I am.
Xp looks okay and running well. sda4 is drive D for storage of videos and music files. There is no errors when I access drive D from windows, and no xp programs are in drive D.

What I would do is use a live linux and run 'fdisk /dev/sda' .
m=dislpay menu
p=display partition table
step #1. press 'd' for delete partition
#2 enter '3' for the extended partition entrie
#3 press 'p' and make sure it list sda1, sda2 and sda4
if all looks good press 'w'- write new partition table to disk.
if it does not look good press 'q' to quit with out written new partition table.
What you will end up with is sda1,sda2, unalloted space,sda4.
Do not know why XP's diskmanagemet messed it up.
You may be adviced to wait and see if any one else see's a problem with my method.
